Realtors Oppose Amendment 41
The Colorado Association of REALTORS®, in partnership with this local board and boards all over the state, strongly opposes Amendment 41.
Amendment 41 would prohibit Realtor boards across Colorado from educating state, county and local officials from learning about issues of importance to the industry at functions they host where meals are provided or transportation is reimbursed. The only exception is if the official has a significant place in the agenda to speak and the organization has no more than 5% of its backing from for-profit entities. This restriction means that attempting to educate policy makers about issues of importance to Realtors in an environment free of distractions would be next to impossible. Additionally, Amendment 41 would prohibit the civic philanthropy Realtors provide to the communities they serve if members of the community are government employees or contractors, even in non-decision making capacities. Scholarships, affordable housing, Little League sponsorships could not be donated to any government employee or their families. Even emergency responders would be unable to accept assistance such as meals or temporary accommodations in the aftermath of a disaster as a community attempts to rebuild, harming the ability of Realtors to help their communities recover from the destruction of property values.
